Protect Your Files - Tenta Launches Encrypted e-Book Reader

A lot of people use private browsers because they want to protect their privacy. It’s nice to know that you’re not being tracked as closely as you would in a regular browser or that your history isn’t being recorded in a place that’s easily accessible. But even private browsers don’t protect any files you download.

Think about it: What happens after you download a file from the internet? It gets stored on your hard drive or in local storage, right? And while that’s fine as long a you always have possession of your device, who can guarantee that they will always have physical possession of their phone or computer? Even if it never gets stolen, there are times when you don’t have your device on your person. Think about all of the times you leave it at home. Think about what happens when you bring it in for a repair.

For a lot of people, that might not be a huge concern. But for anyone reading and downloading sensitive files — like legal documents or confidential or government files — the consequences of an unauthorized person getting their hands on downloaded files are dire. That’s why Tenta created our secure Tenta Vault.

In order to make sure that your downloaded documents, files, photos, and videos are truly secure and private, the Tenta Vault protects them securely behind a unique PIN. That PIN isn’t stored anywhere — not on our servers, not in a file stashed away somewhere, nowhere. You are the only person who knows your PIN, which is used to derive an encryption key that’s unique too. That encryption key also isn’t stored on a server anywhere. (So make sure you choose something you can remember, because if you lose that number, we can’t help you get it back.)

But not only does the Tenta Vault encrypt all of your files — including files from your device that can be added in two clicks — it also provides a secure way for you to view those files, via our built-in media players. Those include our just-launched private ebook reader. Any files that you download and encrypt in the Tenta Vault can’t be opened with standard readers, like a Kindle Reader or whatever program comes standard with your device. This new feature is great for anyone who’s trying to read banned books either in countries where the government bans books or in the United States, where books are still often banned or censored in schools. For example, classics like The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and To Kill A Mockingbird are banned in some American schools even today.

The result is that if anyone gets access to your device, they won’t be able to access any of your encrypted files unless they have two things: the Tenta Browser private epub reader and your PIN. So unless you’re being held at gunpoint, it’s pretty unlikely anyone will be able to see your stuff. Also, in that situation, you probably have bigger things to worry about than what’s on your device.
